President Trump lost his first fight over health care and Monday night he appeared to back off threats to force Democrats and Republicans to pay for the border wall.

Until today, Trump has been demanding a down payment for his border wall tied to the deadline on Saturday to pass a Continuing Resolution in order to keep the government from shutting down.
But now Trump is changing course. He told a gathering of 20 conservative media reporters Monday evening that he would return to the wall funding issue in September, according to at least two of the reporters who were in the room. They spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the get-together, which was not intended to be on the record.
